WINNIE LEE (WAYMIRE) TALLEY, 86, was born March 15, 1925, in Keo, Arkansas, to the late Roy Winfield and Althea Alene (Bryant) Waymire. She passed away Sunday, January 22, 2012.
Winnie was a dedicated elementary school teacher from 1943 – 1966. She then became principal of the new elementary school in Indian Hills where she served until her retirement in 1990.
She was active in Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and served as Regent of the Prudence Hall Chapter and in several other offices. She also served as Director of the Quapaw District. In addition, she was a faithful member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Winnie was a volunteer at SeniorNet and a Home Bound visitor. She was active at Park Hill Baptist Church and taught Sunday School all of her life. She loved the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Virgil Talley, her parents and her brother, Allen Waymire. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Harris (husband Tom) of Atlanta; a brother, Richard Waymire (wife Martha) of Bella Vista; her two daughters: Iris White (husband Ken) of Maryland and Anita Pride (husband Monty) of Sherwood; and one son, Mark Talley (wife Julie) of Sherwood; three grandsons: Kenny White, III (wife Melanie), Daniel Pride, and Tim Pride (wife Jenna); four granddaughters: Lisa Subat (husband Brad), Laura Gilliam (husband Jarret), Brittany Rhoden (husband Jamie) and Linsey Cantrell (husband Ben); three great-grandsons: Jason Subat, Ian Gilliam, and Kenny White, IV; and four great-granddaughters: Allison Subat, Caroline and Emma White, and Kathryn Gilliam.
A celebration of her homegoing will be Wednesday, January 25 at 1:00 pm at Park Hill Baptist Church of North Little Rock administered by Reverend Luke Flesher. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 24 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the North Little Rock Funeral Home. Memorials may be sent to Park Hill Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
