Virgil Carter Skinner, 86, of Sherwood passed away February 17, 2012. He was born in Hope, AR on June 6, 1926 to Sid and Zannie Mae Skinner. He was a WWII veteran and retired from the Missouri / Union Pacific Railroad in North Little Rock, after 39 years as a locomotive engineer. Virgil was married to his loving wife, Joy Faye Skinner for 60 wonderful years. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly and he will be remembered for his large, wonderful laugh. He loved being outdoors and working on the farm in Bradley County. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Faye; his sisters, Iva Lee Davis and Joyce McRoy of Hope, AR; his children, Janet McNew, Sid Skinner (Kathy) of Lonoke, and Sarah Rhoads Kinder (Aaron); grandchildren, Melody Roachell (Shawn), Heather Carpenter (Clifford Grant, III), Christie Ault (Sam), Lindsey Miller (Randy), Lydia Williams (Bo), Carter, Ginger and Jenna Beth Rhoads; great-grandchildren, Newton E. McNew, Accyllia Roachell, Hannah Carpenter, Clifford Grant IV, Olivia and Parker Ault. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gracie Ross and Geraldine Finch; brother, J.C. Collier; grandson, Shane McNew; and son-in-law, Newton McNew.

A special thank you to the VA Home Based Primary Care team and our wonderful home health family, Helen, Lee Ann, Anna, and Judy.

Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 PM Sunday, at the North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 PM at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
